Gunnari Auvinen is a software engineer with experience in software architecture, microservices, distributed systems, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development. Before entering software engineering, Gunnari Auvinen worked in electrical and computer engineering. He transitioned to software engineering in 2014 and joined Sonian in 2015, where he contributed to full-stack development and helped modernize the company’s web application technologies.
Gunnari Auvinen later joined Turo, eventually becoming a staff software engineer. His work included developing engineering platform initiatives, migrating legacy web applications to React and Redux, creating caching infrastructure, and designing a new properties API that substantially reduced payload sizes for web and native clients. He also helped establish a monorepo and new build pipeline while working closely with other engineering functions.
At Labviva, Gunnari Auvinen has taken on increasingly senior software engineering responsibilities, including architectural planning, system design, code reviews, technical interviews, and engineering mentorship. He has designed and maintained production services involving microservices, APIs, databases, and cloud technologies, while also contributing to systems capable of processing large volumes of scientific information.
Beyond his professional work, Gunnari Auvinen enjoys weightlifting, hiking, cooking, coffee, board games, video games, and anime. He also volunteers monthly with Rice Sticks & Tea.
